中學時期，林老师歌樂藝術潛能已展露無遺，曾獲得全森校際歌唱比賽冠軍，同時也獲得1984年全森古典吉他比賽冠軍。中學畢業后，也多次得南馬及中馬區藝術歌曲歌唱賽男子組冠軍。

1991, 1992, 1993 年聯蟬獲得全國藝術 歌 曲歌唱賽男子組亞軍。1992年6月在台灣成功獲得進入亞洲華人歌唱大賽決賽圈。自1993年先后隨芙中(雪隆)校友會合唱團赴香港，澳洲，台灣，曼谷，中國，西班牙，韓國作巡回演唱。

92年成立巴生濱華獨中校隊合唱團，巴生濱華獨中校隊合唱團在林君指導及指揮下，于1994年成功演出《歌聲傳達我們的心》，並于同年策劃萬津中華校友會兒童合唱團《初蕾》演唱會，隨著1996年再次出擊成功領導濱中校隊合唱團主辦《五年來》演唱會，成就裴然令人激賞。林老师悉心指導該校隊合唱團，歌唱水準日益進步，歷年來參加各形式的比賽都頻頻報捷。更于1995年獲得全雪隆合唱比賽全埸總冠軍。

97年開始擔任巴生中華獨中合唱團指導兼指揮，並于98年帶領該合唱團成功演出《巴生河的呼喚》，該演唱會深獲各界人士的贊賞。

林老师于1995年創辦巴生第一所吉他學院，取名為泰雷嘉吉他學院，目前擔任該院院長、泰雷嘉吉他學院吉他合奏團指揮兼指導、馬來西亞愛韻合唱團指揮兼指導，並常受邀任歌唱賽評判及參與錄音工作。 

^{Mr. Lim Hock Siong graduated from Malaysia Institute of Art with a major in Guitar. He began his passion music under the guidance of Mr. Eric Ang and Mr. CK Lai, with his effort he awarded Diploma in Performance from Guildhall School of Music Drama, UK. With a minor in Vocal Studying, he was under the guidance of his mentor Mr. Chew Hock Peng which contoured to inspire his passion for music. He later received his training from Malaysian Famous Vocalist Ms. Lilian Lee. In 1990, with his talent and hard work he received titled as Best Student and graduated from Malaysia Institute of Art.}

^{His hidden talents on music performing were discovered during his secondary school days. His first taste in winning came during the Negeri Sembilan School Singing Competition, where he emerged as Champion in the competition. In 1984, his talents brought him success again by winning the Negeri Sembilan Guitar Competition. After completing secondary school, he participated in singing competitions held throughout Malaysia and for his efforts, he had won a few competitions.}

^{He tasted success again by winning the Malaysia Art Song Singing Competition by becoming the 1st runner up for three years in a row, beginning from 1991 until 1993. He even managed to gain entry into the finals of the Asia Chinese Singing Competition which was held in Taiwan during June, 1992.}

^{The following year, he began a series of concert tours in Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan, China, Spain, Korea and Europe, together with Seremban Chung Hua Alumni Choir. And during his tours in Australia and Spain, he did his research and studies on classical guitar music.}

^{To further improve his skills and knowledge, he participated twice in the World Symposium on Choral Music, once in Vancouver Canada (1993) and the other in Sydney, Australia (1996).}

^{He successfully established Klang Pin Hwa High Schools Choir during 1992. With his constant effort, the choir staged their very first concert “Song of Our Heart” in 1994. During the same year, they have even performed “Chu Lei” together with the Banting Chong Hua Children Choir. Another concert was staged during 1996, and through this “Five Years Back…” concert, they received numerous appraisals on their effort and performance. In 1995 the choir participated in Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Choir Competitions and they had won the Champion from the competition. Again in 1997, he helps to conduct the Klang Chung Hwa High School Choir and organized the “Sound of the Klang River” concert in 1998, which was another addition to his list of achievements.}

^{During 1995, Mr Lim established the very first guitar house in Klang, called the Tarrega Guitar House. Mr Lim has acted as the conductor for the Lovely Melodies Choir also for the Tarrega Guitar House Guitar Ensemble. Being the principal of Tarrega Guitar House, he has received numerous invitations to be the judge for competitions and even participating in recording deals.}
